Big Data

WHAT IS… ?
Big data analytics is the process of analyzing a very large volume of data and deriving meaningful information or insights from such analysis. The term in this context originated in 2008 with Thomas H. Davenport and D.J. Patil, who defined it as
“The ability to deal with high volumes of data, quickly extract useful information from it, and share the knowledge to create competitive advantage.”
HOW IS IT USED ?
Big data is technology that can be used across all industries and is used for planning and making predictions for better decision making in the future. Data can be found anywhere: all the raw data we produce every day as individuals and businesses, e-mail messages, server logs, GPS signals, credit card transactions, video uploads, web searches, and much more. Big data can provide new insights into our lives and businesses that we could not have found out before. Data is becoming increasingly vital to all aspects of our lives, and it will continue to be.
