Time Series
#Terms
WHAT IS… ?
A Time Series is a sequence of data points indexed (listed or graphed) in time order. Most commonly, a time series is a sequence taken at successive equally-spaced points in time. That is, a time series is a sequence of discrete-time data. Examples of time series are heights of ocean tides, counts of sunspots, and the daily closing value of the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
HOW IS IT USED ?
A time series describes a sequence of values generally indexed by time. Usually, the value at each time step is simply a number (e.g., the closing price of the Dow Jones Index that day).
